Salvage trailer, and a new essay in Meanjin

Salvage publication date is getting closer – only a little over two months to go now. This stunning new book trailer just dropped, thanks to the clever folks at Picador/PanMacmillan:

I’m so excited to share this book with the world. It’s a bit distracting, honestly.

In other news, I have an essay in the new issue of Meanijn, out today. It’s a long piece about an extraordinary project: Running Water Community Press, Australia’s first author-owned and run book-publishing co-operative. It’s a big story about indie publishing success, truth-telling, collaboration and First Nations self-determination. It was such a privilege to work on this for most of last year, and I loved working slowly and carefully with the collective to do this story justice (I hope I have). The work they’re doing and their whole approach is really inspiring.

The Meanjin eds have kindly popped this piece out from behind the paywall so it’s free to read and share. I hope lots of people read and share it – especially writers and book people looking for better ways to work together. Please subscribe and support Meanjin if you can afford it.

You can find out more about Running Water Community Press and the Water Justice project here. There are lots of ways to support their work, including buying their beautiful books!
